Re: Rattling noise from dynamo gear

No, it's not an Alton - it's a polish made dynamo sold by some germans on ebay; take a look; http://www.old-motorcycle-parts.com/dynamo-l-e3lm-1.html

Smiths Chronometric S433/1/L threads

The threads on the speedo fastening pin bolts, what size are they? I tried with 1/4" BSC nuts, they thread on but are a loose fit.

Re: Rattling noise from dynamo gear

Powerdynamo in Germany sell a "Bosch" magneto, which is in fact a combined electronic ignition and 12V generator, with permanent magnets. The product can be seen here: http://www.powerdynamo.biz/eng/systems/7197/719710main.htm This is what they write about gear backlash: "With the uni...

Re: Rattling noise from dynamo gear

Further investigations; changed the dynamo gear for an old original one. The rattling, which was intermittent with the other gear, is now continous. My theory; the old, original gear has more wear and teeth clearence, causing rattling/back-lash between the fibre gear teeth/dynamo gear teeth. Back-la...

Re: '41 W/NG "Scrambler"

Not too bad, had to touch up the border between white and black a little (crappy masking tape!), and try to polish it a bit when properly dry. But hey, it's a reg. number plate already. Legit too.

Coffee tasting especially good this morning...

...in a custom made mug. Can be used for tea as well. Trying to get used to earl grey with sugar and milk, but not quite there yet.

Re: '41 W/NG "Scrambler"

A day of cosmetic finishing touches today - norwegian front registration number plate UK style. Rear end will have to be black on white, to be legit. 20191215_122146.jpg 20191215_122135.jpg Rear registration number plate in the making, trying the letters for size and position before painting. It has...

Re: Rattling noise from dynamo gear

Could very well be that it needs to settle in. I tried to pull it, turn the dynamo gear some, refit it and tightened the strap little bit up before doing the nut up - it was little less rattly, but still. Should there be something between the dynamo body and the mag body, like a thin sheet of some i...

Rattling noise from dynamo gear

While turning over the engine by the kick starter (no head fitted, easy turning) there's a rattly noise/vibration coming from the dynamo gear, like it or the fibre gear beeing out of true. Dynamo is new, magneto is newly refurbished. Normal noise, nothing to worry abt?
