Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on an Ariel 2019

Hi This is how my new project, a 58 FH arrived: C Stand Pivot.png Would it be correct to assume this is a common occurrence? On an associated point, I see Tilly has a grease nipple fitted to the rear brake cable, would this be an original design and if so is it available to purchase anywhere? I can'...

Spire Fastenings

Hi The dis-assembly of my 58 FH is going quite well but it has raised a question, (possibly heretical on here ;) ), in my mind. Do spire fixings perform well as designed? Particularly the ones securing the rear portion of the rear mudguard and numberplate. Do people replace the spire fixings with st...

Re: Clutch dome

Hi From your photo with the dome removed it looks like the lower stud is bent, the bend is not in the direction of rotation of the clutch and therefore the stud seems to have been loosened either before or by the incident. I wonder if the stud becoming loose was the cause of the detents in the cup a...

Re: FH primary alignment?

Hi
I'm certainly no FH expert but have just started a restoration of one.
GB44 main shaft lengths are detailed in section 19 of the Draganfly catalogue - I also received clarification from the 'Forum', see my post earlier in this section titled GB44 Main Shaft

Re: Cyclone engine

Hi
Sorry for the hijack, but can anyone tell me the significance of the 'FC' - I have a 58 GB44 similarly marked.

Re: What's Wrong With This 58 FH?

Thanks Battery carrier is now off the bike and shows no sign of repair, (the rough area in previous photo looks as if it is corrosion damage painted over). It is a one piece folded and pressed item, (unlike the built up version on Draganfy), which leads me to think it is original though perhaps not ...

Re: What's Wrong With This 58 FH?

Thanks Simes My upper fixing for the strap seems to have been a captive nut, (cage nut), evidenced from the square hole - I'll remove the carrier today and formulate a plan to return it to original, do you think the cage nut is correct? Removed the dual seat yesterday to find it has a fibre glass pa...

Re: What's Wrong With This 58 FH?

Thanks Simon My doubts regarding the tank badges come from the Draganfly table which seems to imply the background should be red as opposed to gold. I'll look into the dip / horn switch - I have the 'original', (I think), loom and some switchgear. Yes there is a sidestand but it's totally inaccessib...

What's Wrong With This 58 FH?

Hi I've now got my new project in the garage, (hence the cramped nature of the photos), and am compiling a jobs list. The bike will be totally stripped and re-built but I'm hoping some of you guys could take a look at the photos and indicate where the bike differs from it's factory specification. Po...
