Re: Simes' FH Rebuild

Hi Simes
I had a small clearance between my MG and OT:

Are you sure your OT is as per original, (based on the horn fixing)?

Re: Rims and spokes

Hi Paul
My 58 FH does not currently have butted spokes, do you know where can I find the information as to whether it would have originally?

Re: Coil or Mag? E3L or Alton?

Hi My location and riding profile result in my only using lights as 'attention getters' during daylight, as a result I intend to go traditional E3L / K2F 6V system on my FH restoration - can't justify the significant additional expense of an Alton and / or electronic ignition which will offer little...

Re: Rims and spokes

You didn't have any issues with the holes, dimples and the direction of the spokes then? Hi Simes The DRC components, ('Roltru' stainless rims, stainless spokes and plated brass nipples), for my Matchless and the Triumph front were absolutely spot on - went together perfectly with no need to adjust...

Re: Rims and spokes

Hi I've used stainless 'Roltru' rims from Devon Rim Company on my last two restorations coupled with their plated brass nipples and stainless spokes - very pleased with the quality and service. For my FH I intend to use DRC 'Roltru' rims but as yet am undecided as to whether to replace the spokes an...

Hi Malcolm

Re: Lighting Switch Removal

Thanks Chaps
After the reassurance that I'd not missed something I gave it another go and it's now safely out :)
Turned out to be a very tight fit in the panel.
That's one more job ticked off the ever growing list of things to do.

Lighting Switch Removal

Hi I'm trying to remove the lighting switch, (part no 31340), from the nacelle instrument panel on my 58 FH, I've removed clip 308234 but the switch is not moving,(Panel is an original metal one and all switch wiring is disconnected). I suspect the PO may have bonded the switch to the panel or paint...

Re: Swinging Arm Powder Coating

Hi Simes
Yes I'd read that thread, there's definitely food for thought there.
J. Thanks for that info, I think I'll give it a go - I'll make sure to brief the powder coaters first.
Regards Mick
