That's a very nice solution. I think I need a lathe :¬)

I usually use champagne corks (any excuse) and give them a good smear of Vaseline. Seems to work ok.

If someone has fitted a cut-out it might be worth checking/discarding that
And where the HT lead goes into the pickup is a common point of failure - often gets damp / loose / etc

They are usually set at full advance with the cable slack so that pulling the cable retards the ignition.
