Don't forget that the seats used on the SQ4 are much larger and have the raised rear.

The cork washer just slides over the piston doesn't it. You could dig it out with a bit of stiff wire, and make a new one if you trash it? I think that would be safer than trying to remove the plunger - in fact I think that you will have to dig out the cork anyway. I think the rolled on plunger just...

Check the tap seal has not swelled and partially blocked the flow - I've seen that on one of those taps.. I use a single stage ewarts tap with cork seals on mine. Did you put a strainer in the banjo? I went through a period of picking up stuff in the idle jet. A bit disconcerting in slow corners...

Simes, not sure of the size, but it‘s a rubber line without a filter making a nice U from the tap to the carburettor. Shouldn‘t be that though, as I‘ve had the same line for a while and never had any problems with it. It must be something that happened on this last repair. My last ride was on Tuesd...

Can you tell us about the fuel line size, fittings and route to the carburettor? I had a problem like this on first start up....

They were filmed in England. The '59 catalogue lists finish in claret, black or glamour red. I guess they were selling red bikes from late '58 onwards, although I am sure you could get them to order earlier. I'm happy to know that Jerry, thanks. Now I feel I can legitimately repaint my FH in Glamou...
