Re: Leader resto complete but alas a problem

Hi,

I can't find any details in the manuals of the needle number/type but from a pencil note in my Amal booklet, the Leader has a B needle and the Sports Arrow ( 376 carb ) a C needle which I think is longer.

Re: Leader clutch plate

Hello Tony, If you don't get any offers- John Ellis had some re-corked ones for sale but may have sold them all. The only other source is Villiers Services, they relined some of mine and although not cork and a bit thicker did work very well ; better than some of the other full circle types/material...

Re: Crankshaft connection bolt

Hello, Pleased to hear the bolt is sorted. Re lininig up the shafts. Some flywheel assemblies go together with no problems and line up straight away and others seem to need quite a lot of work to get them to the correct run out. If the shafts are out, tighten them up in stages and pull them into lin...

Re: Crankshaft connection bolt

Hi, The bolt is torqued to 60 ft/lb and may have been done higher so will need some force to undo it. Also is the flexing just in the allen key or is the flywheel assembly also flexing either on the oak blocks( I know its oak but it may still compress slightly ) or is the unsupported shaft bending a...

Re: Flywheel bolt

Hello,

I find a car oil filter remover ( nylon strap type) will just go over the flywheel and hold it enough to free the centre nut.

Re: ARROW/LEADER ELECTRIC START CONVERSION

Hi Terry,

There are two or three maybe more people who have added electric start to their bike(s).

AOMCC Club member Roger L. has done a number, he should be at Stafford this week-end, I can give you his tel. number if needed; off site.

Re: Tight wad arrow

Hi Bob,

The only thing which occurs to me is the primary jet and the circuit/passages which lead to it. Take it out and give it a clean along with blowing some air through the passages.

Re: Temperamental Leader

Hi , This may be a long shot but are the crqnks at 180 degrees, I've know the key move back on assembly and the cranks be out of position and move as they are bolted together.

And can you feel the compression for each stroke as the kick start is pushed down.

Re: GEARBOX JUMPING in 2nd Gear ONLY

Hello Terry, This is not something I have come across but does the engine vibrate differently in 2nd gear or does the clutch slip when the torque in the lower gear is applied and cause a resonance which affects either the carb or electrical system making the engine misfire. Thats the only thing I ca...
