Re: Leader L/h side panel wanted

Hello Simon,
Did you get a side panel ? the only person I can think of who may have a good one is Keith Harding of Chester. I can give you his number on the message facility.

Re: 1962 Arrow Starting Problems

Hi John, Just been working on the Leader and a though occurred to be , if the bike has a points sysytem are the points shorting out against the cover or is one of the contact breaker heals tightening up on the brass spigot and slowly stopping working. I've heard of the heal tightening before Terry h...

Re: 1962 Arrow Starting Problems

Hi John, I was replying to the last post but also had in mind the earlier replies to you. Aspen fuel is mainly used by gardeners it has a long shelf life and gives off far less fumes, I found it good to start the Arrow I only use occasionally but it is very expensive. I like the pressure/vacuum test...

Re: 1962 Arrow Starting Problems

The compression does seem to be low but I've had a bike with similar compression after a re-ring and it started OK and the compression eventually increased to a normal level. ( on one engine I used Aspen fuel after a rebuild and it started more easily than normal ) The primary compression ( crankcas...

Re: LEADER RIMS AND TYRES

There may not be enough clearance between the tyres and mudguards , you might find there is just enough clearance The gearing will be too high in top gear ie. the engine will struggle to pull in 4th. The centre stand may need to be len...

Re: A question on ignition timing methods

Re the timing on the engine. When the Standard Leader had points ignition the bike ran well and started well after spending time getting the timing exactly as the workshop manual recommended. On the 270 Leader with Pazon I set the timing as per the instructions to get the engine going and then using...

Re: 1962 Arrow Starting Problems

Hello John,, To answer your question from the first message. The compression pressure is normally well over 100 psi for the Leader/Arrow engine and after a rebore it will be less until the rings bed in properly. Is the fuel getting through to the carb, the reason I ask is because I've just repaired ...
