Re: fuel tap help needed

Hello, I've nearly got the tap internals done, I had run out of most of the tap parts so it's taken a long time to get all the 12 parts machined. -- but I have found an original forked valve which is in fairly good condition with most of the small square intact. I've tried it in a spare selector and...

Re: carb flooding

Hi John, The problem of having the wrong needle is not uncommon, it's only when you see the needles together or know what it should be from the markings on it that all becomes clear, I had the same problem on the 200 cc Arrow, it started but needed a lot of throttle and flooding of the carb. There a...

Re: MK 2 Ariel Leader

Hello Frank, The Ariel Leader is one of the bikes which some like and others do not like, having owned one from 1965 I like riding them, which is why I decided to make a MK 2 with a slightly bigger engine capacity. The front brake is not as good as it should be but it carries a fair amount of campin...

Re: fuel tap help needed

Hi, Attached a picture of the parts which make up the Ariel Leader/Arrow tap. The forked valve part which is the one you want/need, is the one which I use in the Leader taps. I don't have any spare at the moment, the ones I have are all destined to fit into the taps which are on order. I will be mak...

Re: MK 2 Ariel Leader

I've only done a few miles so far but the engine is running OK, with a fair amount of torque in the lower revs. I reached a speed of 40 to 45 mph for a short time but generally I'm taking it easy letting the engine run freely. The temperature gauge works OK, its only connected to the off side cylind...

Re: Ariel Bantam at the National Motorcycle Muesum

Here's a bit more of the story, I'll post the rest when I can find them. The scan is not very clear but it's just readable

Re: MK 2 Ariel Leader

A bit more progress on the instrument panel, the warning lights need wiring up but it's starting to come together. The speedo connected and almost ready for a longer road test.

Re: MK 2 Ariel Leader

A bit more progress on the MK 2 Leader, the temporary front mudguard in place and the forks painted. Wiring nearly done
but still quite a few smaller items to sort out.

Re: MK 2 Ariel Leader

Hi Roger, I like the look of the Leader with a fairing on . The more I see it the more it seems to look OK but it takes a long time to get it fitting right and then there are all the joints between the fairing and the original metal panels. I'm coming over to Shirebrook to collect the wheel some tim...

Re: MK 2 Ariel Leader

Hi Steve, The MK 2 was only ever a drawing by the Ariel drawing office and I bought a copy of it at an annual rally some years ago. One has been made already but was sold to someone else who may or may not keep it in it's present form. This one has Honda pistons and alloy barrels with a longer co-ro...
