Re: Rod kits

Evening David, Replacement con-rods with new big ends and little ends used to be available from DRAGS. There are some modern con-rods available which can be made to fit the Arrow/Leaders but they either need new crank pins making or the flywheels boring out to take the bigger pins, which all = expen...

Re: Front and rear hubs Ariel Golden arrow

Evening Kevin, The workshop manual does have a cross-section drawing of both the rear and front wheel, they are not totally clear but should help. Some riders use bearings with the rubber seals on each side so do not need to make sure the other dust keeper out seals are in as good a condition as was...

Re: V5 needed

Hello Ivor,
I've attached the page from the Cheval, I've managed to cut off the title but the text is OK.

Re: Ariel Leader Exhaust To Barrell Joint

Hi Simon, My experience over the years with the threaded exhaust collars/ nuts is that they are not that good at sealing the exhaust pipe or holding it very securely. The lug on the pipe which fits on the foot rest seems to do most of the holding in place. I think the idea is that the chamfer on the...

Re: V5 needed

Hello Ivor,
Paul Jameson did an article on the procedure for getting a new log-book/V 5 in the December issue of the Cheval, now the local DVLA offices are closed.

I can scan a copy if you don't have access to the mag. article.

Re: 6 volt versus 12volt

Hello Barry, 12 volts is a good up grade, the lights can be a bit brighter and if using a Boyer power box there is no need be to concerned about over charging and it has an emergency start facility. The electronic ignition does help to make the bike start easier, since it stays constant and does not...

Re: leader

Hi,

Try asking on the arrowandleaders yahoo site, one or two people are building specials and they may have or know where to get one of the fibre tank/seat units - originally sold by Pride and Clarke, I think in the sixties.

Re: leader

Hello, Most of the seat/tank combined items I have seen are either damaged or never did fit very well. Keith had one on his Arrow at the Stafford show and that one fitted well and looked very good. I've tried to copy a picture of it but it will not transfer but you should be able to see his show pic...

Re: Tyre and seat advice please

Hello Roy, I prefer the Dunlop tyres K82 but most dealers are waiting for another batch to be delivered -- 6 weeks or so. I've not tried the Mitas tyres but some riders say they are OK and cheaper and they look OK. There is another tyre made by a German firm Heidenau , I think, they are cheaper than...

Afternoon Pete, I've not received any messages, either via my site or the AOMCC site , my e-mail is bh@hinch.freeserve.co.uk , the Paypal account is connected to this . I think there is a way of using paypal without incurring their 4/5% charges. The taps cost £ 29-50 plus postage , which has just go...
