Re: leader coil position

Hello, Re the position of the coils on the Leader. With the larger tank fitted the coils were moved to the front of the frame. Still inside the frame but above the diamond shaped hatch. The fixing bolt/screw heads are visible inside the parcel locker. Fitting the coils in place is not very easy. Whe...

Re: Ariel Arrow 1964 Parts

Hello Mark, I use Drags but also use my local bearing and seal supplier, who will supply viton seals for the centre and end cover seals which last longer with modern fuels but they are more expensive. There are riders on the Yahoo arrowandleader group who can supply a range parts both used and newly...

Re: arrow engine rebuilds

Hi MARK,

If the seals have gone hard then replace them with viton seals .They are a bit more expensive but last much longer with modern fuels.

Re: Rear suspension on Arrow

Hi,

There are also some supplementary rear springs which fit inside the larger rear ones , using special washers to locate them in place. The washers are available but I'm not sure if the springs are easily available.

Re: Needle roller little ends

Hello, Re the needle roller little ends - I have them in the Arrow engine - the conrods are 107 m/m length They are Lambretta ones and have a special big end pin so they fit into the Ariel flywheel halves and a liner in the little end eye to reduce the size for the 14m/m gudgeo pins in the x7 Suzuki...

Re: What bulbs to use after 12v conversion on 2-stroke

Hello, I changed my Leader to 12 volts over 12 years ago ( Boyer power box ) and also use a Boyer ignition. The bike has the larger rotor, its a 1965 model, which I am told gives a few more watts ( 55 ? ) I use a 40/45 watt bulb in the head light and the alternator seems to keep up with the demand O...

18'' wheels

Hello Ian,

I have 18'' wheels on my Arrow but the rear sprocket had to be changed to a 52 tooth one to get the bike to pull in top. The tyre comes very close to the top of the forks on full deflection.

Re the hot starting. My Arrow with a Mikuni carb starts easily when hot. The Leader with a 376 carb, about 10 years old, usually starts well but after a fast run it can be slow to start . A fast kick on the kick start usually gets it going with the help of the electronic ignition.
