Re: Arrow sports Clutch Plates

Hello Alan, If the bike has been stored for a while the plates may be stuck together or the clutch rod which goes through the shaft could be stuck as well. If you do not have a workshop manual it's worth getting hold of one -they are very useful and tell you the correct way to get off the primary ch...

Re: Badges & dimensions

Evening Foxy,

That's a very effective stand for the engine, much better than my wooden blocks. Nice piece of work.

Re: Badges & dimensions

Attached the badges with the ARIEL badge bezel-which has two lugs on the underside/back to attach the badge to the front shield. The cast LEADER badge is around 1m/m shorter on the centre to centre distance of the holes -- it seems to have shrunk in the re manufacture to a casting from the plastic o...

Re: Badges & dimensions

Hi , The angle looks OK, some of the stands I have seen have bent /twisted at the bracket due to the foot slipping on a slippery base/ painted garage floor. I use a rubber disc under the foot to give a bit more grip. It's possible to start with the engine on the front stand and centre stand and buil...

Re: Badges & dimensions

Hello, Attached a picture with measures of the front stand. It's one I made for my Leader - it's a copy of the original but using metric tubing. The end of the tubes and the 30 cm mark on the tape all line up with the gap in the table top. If you get no reply re the badges I'll send pictures of them...

Re: My latest project

Re using Suzuki pistons, I've heard of a few ways of using Suzuki pistons-- some riders just fit them and say the bike performes OK , so leave things as they are. Others take a bit off the barrel, top or bottom and others take metal off the head then reshape the head /squish band. I took the head ga...

Re: My latest project

This is something I tried a few years ago to make the Armours silencers quieter while I had the original one on my bike chromed. I've since used the additions to the Armours baffles on the 270 Leader and whilst it's a bit louder it's not too bad. There is also a picture of the shorter 1'' end tube a...

Re: My latest project

Hello,

Attached the lifting handle assembly, ready to go into the top pressing tube and be secured with a split pin. Some early models had a different long spring with prongs not eye-lets but I've heard of them coming loose.

Re: My latest project

These are the bits ( just one long tube) which make up the lifting handle assembly , just need a split pin to hold the long wire in place in the top pressing tube.

Re: Leader Crankshaft Bearing Diameters?

Hello, Re the journal/shaft diameters for the main bearings. The oil seal is a metric item I think , so I assume the bearing may also be a metric size on the inner race at least. 25 m/m is .98425'' which is the diameter of the shaft. I suggested .9843 '' because I prefer to have the bearing tight be...
