Re: 1958 VH petrol tank knee pads

Use the same principal as you would installing an old windscreen. Piece of paracord around to work the grips on.

Re: Ariel 3....an idea before its time?

Honda made a ‘Gyro’ which is a similar set up. I’m unsure of its commercial success but there seems something of a cult following.

Ariel 3’s have been reaching silly money on eBay uk recently too.

Re: A chat today was amusing

As a younger member of the club (in my mid thirties) I see this as a cycle which will bring about the end of the club and most classic British bikes on the road. 1.People hold onto their bikes for too long, hoping the value will increase as much as possible as they become more of an asset than a bi...

Re: Plunger suspension ride height adjustment

We have Dave Owen to thank for the plunger springs in Chris Read’s KH. He supplied them to me at an LDR, I believe they cost me a bottle of chateauneuf du pape. From what I recall, they were the heavier gauge springs, as the lighter gauge ones I took out of the bike were completely knackered, and ha...

Re: Swinging Arm Powder Coating

I had my swing arm powder coated at exactly the same time as dad had the one on his KH done, by the same powder coaters, in the same oven. My swing arm has very brittle powder coat on it, and a great deal of it has peeled off. Dad’s is still in good condition and he has done more miles than I have. ...

Re: help sq 4 wont run

Hi Kevin, I’m pleased you are making progress. Allow me to share something with you. A couple of years ago, a member sought square four advice from the forum - and was unanimously advised to clean his sludge traps before he went any further. He didn’t. Shortly afterwards he was asking for new crank ...

How sad, Mike was a lovely, genuine bloke. It was great to see him make it out for the annual rally and the treffen last year.

I’d be surprised if AOMCC square four spares don’t have some.

Otherwise Draganfly might be able to help

Re: ArielMAroon /Deep Claret

I recently purchased a new old stock footrest, and the paint on that is a very close match to the BMC blackberry colour.

I also have a NOS battery carrier fitted to the VH, where the match isn’t quite as good, but good enough for no one to notice.

Re: Leaky tank help needed

Ray Pettitt in Nottingham does a great job, assuming he is still with us.

Is it weeping so badly that treatment with POR-15 is out of the question?
