Re: Nh 350

Earlier this year I built up four modified MO1 Mags from parts with 'Brightspark' condensers - They produce good sparks. The trick is to remove the original condenser and replace the coil connections with something set in an infill medium. I experimented with 'Clearcast Plastic' (too brittle), a mac...

Re: QD hub dismanteling

Well, I learn something new every day . . . "In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi (侘 寂) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". It is a c...

Re: Lathes

A friend-of-a-friend (Donald) has a small Garage business in Leith (North Edinburgh). He bought the premises 30 years ago at the same time as an Engineer (Ronnie) bought the place next door. These are 17th century buildings, one being initially a Cooperidge and the other a coach house for the Mayor ...

Re: Lathes

Charles, It all depends on what you want to do with the lathe. A small lathe, such as you describe, will be very useful for small jobs - spacers, bushes and so on. One with a vertical drill attached will be even more useful as a small mill. The problem is . . You will soon reach its limits and wish ...

Re: Really Jim..

Ships bridges used to have spinning disks instead of windscreen wipers.

I think they were called the "Kent Clearview" - they seemed to work well.

Of course - they were working in a fixed plane ;) .

I remember those Jim Redman devices back in the day (but didn't buy one).

Re: 1955 NH gearbox oil change

This looks like the start of a 'Molyslip' thread . . . Third gear on my '53 square used to howl, in fact when overtaking with a handful of throttle it sounded like a Stuka in a dive  . I used to get funny looks from motorists. I took the box to a local 'Bike Guru' (Cliff Baker I think his nam...
