Its like one of those "What happened next??" pictures :D .

I guess its on dirt or sand as it has chains around the rear tyre. Life expectancy of the bike won't be high unfortunately.

Possibly, the extra padding is at the front to stop the pillion sliding into the rider - the brakes being better than the acceleration ???

That's an amazing sidecar 8-) . If I'm understanding the mechanics - the two springs are supporting the sidecar body only - not contributing to the chassis/bike's suspension.
