How do I tell the difference between side valve or ohv by looking at the bike? Tim Tim, Another give-away is in the position of the carburettor and the exhaust port(s). On a side-valve they are in the barrel as they have to be below the valve heads - the cylinder head is a simple cover with cooling...

The locals seem to prefer New Year, but as an Englishman abroad its Christmas for me ;) .

(Spending hours researching bike stuff on the Internet - while trying to build up the energy to go out to the freezing workshop and light the woodburner :roll: ).

A bolster chisel worked for me (when re-fitting forks to my BMW R100GS).

Just enough spread to get them to slide and no more ;) .
