Re:

That's an amazing sidecar 8-) . If I'm understanding the mechanics - the two springs are supporting the sidecar body only - not contributing to the chassis/bike's suspension. Its a single seat 'chair' so the springing rate won't be very high - max of 70Kilos for the body with luggage and 80 Kilos fo...

Re: Ariel tricycle

By the way, young Nixon's first name is one of those English peculiarities: "St. John". It wouldn't be too peculiar if it were pronounced "Saint John", but I think it's more like "Sinjun". Happy to take advice from speakers of the Queen's English. Leon "Sinjun&quo...

Is the spring you need bushed at both ends ??

Some have a bush at the leading edge but the rear is hooked through a pair of rollers to allow for the extension as it flattens under load - no swing shackles involved.

What are the dimensions ???

Re: slimming down leaf springs ?

Eat this    Nice one ;) . Another thought . . . I recently replaced the front springs on my Ifor Williams HB510 Horse Trailer . Its a twin-axle with a gross weight of 2584 Kilos. The front nearside cops all the sunken drain covers, broken kerbs, rocks at the side of the road and so-o...

Re:

I hope you have a big Angle Grinder - I wouldn't use a 115mm one for that ! If the springs are too firm (after slimming) I have seen people grind as 'waist' into alternate leaves to make them more flexible. I believe Mr Bradshaw designed that into the leaves on his early P&M Panther rear suspens...

Re: Sq 4 oil pressure

Way back when I rebuilt a four-pipe Square Four, I used to get 52 psi when cold which dropped to around 5 psi on the road when hot. The problem turned out to be the pressure release ball valve in the front crankshaft. A new spring and properly seated ball cured it - 52 psi when hot at road speed. I ...

Re: Italian rally May 1

Now that would be interesting to see.

I was intending to go to the Rally on the '58 VH, but No. 2 daughter is due to pop No.2 Grandchild on 4th May (her husband is a 'Star Wars' fan !) so I'll regretfully have to miss it (unless she is early . . . . . . . . . . . 8-) ).
