Re: Can you help me identify this speedo

Hi Bob,
Welcome to the Forum. You had better send a prayer of thanks up to your late father. That speedo is rare and highly sought after i.e. worth a lot of money.

Re: Sq 4 MK II (Solex) Reluctant to cold start

Paul,
That 40 weight oil should be O.K. for 50°F temperature. To eliminate the oil as a cause of your problem why not change what you have in there for some synthetic 15W-50? What lubricants are you using in the primary case and gearbox?

Re: Sq 4 MK II (Solex) Reluctant to cold start

Also, because when hot, the carburetor drips a bit of fuel if left on the side stand, I have taken to always storing her on the center stand, and running the fuel bowl dry at idle upon shutdown. Hello Paul, What happens if you leave the float bowl full? There should be no leakage if the bike is on ...

Re: Wheel spokes advice required again....

good to know I am not the only one..... If you get chance to outline the issues with central/Drags it would help as i need to try and get Drags to replace the spokes. Hi Alan, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. My bad experience with Central Wheel/Draganfly dates from around 16 years ago s...

Re: Wheel spokes advice required again....

I don't think that, as a whole, anyone has probelms with spoke lengths judging by the lack of replies quoting similar problems to mine. Hello Alan, I certainly had problems with rims and spokes from Central Wheel/Draganfly but I've been a bit busy to reply in detail. I've had absolutely no problems...

Re: Further Dynamo Problems

The earths and continuity through the coil and through the brushes are good. So at this point all looked good..................................I then separated the F and D terminals and applied 12V to the field coil and drove the dynamo while monitoring the D terminal. Result 7v at the D output. Do...

Re: help sq 4 wont run

Hello Kevin, Congratulations on taking the right decision. I wish I was in Malaga right now as the forecast here calls for 14" of snow today. If you are patient and persevering you will be able to take that motor apart and put it back together without insurmountable problems. There are many peo...

Re: help sq 4 wont run

I have owned the bike since 1990. It had been in storage in a shed in yorkshire since 1970?? I ran it last in 2002 Hello Kevin, Are you saying the motor hasn't been opened up to clean the sludge traps since the 1960's, if ever? If that is the case I would advise not to even think about running the ...

Re: solex - poor mpg

One thing I must pay attention to is the float height though, as the contact point on the float to the shut off valve is a bit concave from wear. I had thought of applying a bit of solder to ease the dimple in it - might be part of the problem? Hi Mark, I looked through my notes on Solex carbs and ...
