Re: Work bench / table

I'd love a good rising table but if like me you don't have the room to store such an asset but you have a stout garage or shed remember you can hang your bike from the rafters! See below my VB currently hanging from a cheap hoist that's hanging from a piece of "4x2" that straddles the beam...

A corner for VBs (and other sidevalves)

What ho, Arielists! With the encouragement of our Mr Admin I’m going to start a thread devoted to Ariel sidevalves, particularly the VB but I hope that other earlier and rarer types might find it a home too. I expect the contributions will be occasional and irregular but I hope the thread will pull ...

Re: What kind of valves...?

Nev,
Thank you for your advice. I can I'll shortly be printing off this thread and its companion "Sticking exhaust valve?" and adding them to my Ariel Library!

Re: What kind of valves...?

Oh dear, Nev! Now you've got me going. I've recently installed a pair of "new" valves in my VB that I bought from Draganfly some 10-15 years ago and the intake is magnetic and the exhaust is non-magnetic. And the latter's a bit more bright and shiny; is it "stainless" do you thin...

Thank you gentlemen. There're depths to the Library that I was completely unaware of.

Re: VB single lobe cam followers

Thanks for that, Volker. Late last night I'd come to the same conclusion after a few assemblies and dis-assemblies, hand crankings and hard starings. Here in the foothills of the Hampshire Highlands there're no Arielists to turn to for assistance and so this site is invaluable; its good to have anot...

Re: VB single lobe cam followers

I've been fiddling about trying to get the camshaft and its followers end-float correct and I've just realized I've forgotten which of the 2 lobes on the VB cam drives the inlet valve and which the exhaust; by putting the followers in either way round I can either to happen. So rather than doing a l...

Re: VB single lobe cam followers

Well!
There yer go! I knew I'd acquired over the years a couple of OHV cams so that's the answer. I'll fit one of my old double cams for the moment before trying out the single lobe variety.
Thanks for your advice Dave, regards from MikeN.
