Re: 1930's Model G petrol tank on 1947 rigid frame

Thanks Adrie, the project is intended to be a back dated version of the early thirties and it will be a special. I take your comments and now realize it will be based on a LF,MF or MB tank. I spotted an Indian made Ariel "G" tank on Ebay which shows the underside with no conventional fitti...

1930's Model G petrol tank on 1947 rigid frame

I'm proceeding with a new project which could include fitting a 1930's Model G petrol tank to a 1947 rigid frame. I don't have a tank yet but in principle it should fit using the front seat bracket and by drilling new tapped holes in the steering head. The rigid frame I bought has all the tank lugs ...

Re: Ariel W/NG SMD666 Bells Auction Sale Inspection

Hi Andy, I had a good sift through the lots. The engines, wheels, tanks, spares etc are all Francis Barnet related. If you see the web page there are probably 12 + FB's bikes in various states. I did spot a Arrow/Leader frame maybe two but that was it Ariel wise. They appeared to be rust free. Its p...

Re: 1936 VB Inlet valve guide oil feed pipe

Agree with Ian, my experience is not all oil tank feeds and returns are as Wallers oil diagram. Ultimate test is to put a piece of wire up through the oil lines and see where they emerge.

Re: 1936 VB Inlet valve guide oil feed pipe

Stuart, suggest you take the oil pump off dismantle and make sure the balls are seated as per Waller guidelines. When reassembled smother it with oil and you should a distinct popping of both feed and return plungers when moved up and down. You should expect a steady stream of oil at the return and ...

Re: Wanted - Rigid rear hub - Type 5 & top fork yoke.

I received a response from the seller - so dimensions are what he gave me.
7 3/8 inch between the fork centres - 2 1/32 inch to head stock centre line to the fork leg centre line.
Guess this makes the item H2 - 46 1946 - 1948 to anyone wanting one.

Re: Wanted - Rigid rear hub - Type 5 & top fork yoke.

Gents - thanks for taking time out to comment. Top fork yoke details - I have the distance between centers as 7 5/8 inch. I have the later alloy version with the speedo recess and it and all assembles correctly with the fork legs. I also checked my side valve which has the earlier bracket fitted - t...
