My 59 VH is quite happy at 60mph and is smoother at this speed than 50mph. All std gearing

Re: Hi compression piston & HS cams in NH

I was just saying be aware how much power for the big end and cast wheels. Vincents used crowded big end rollers and only had trouble if they were revved high in competition where they went for a nice caged roller to stop the rollers rubbing. My NH went along at 60 mph very easy. It's just climbing ...

Re: Hi compression piston & HS cams in NH

Just a note. I believe the 350 NH unlike the 500 VH has a crowded roller big end. Not the best for sticking high comp pistons and fancy cams encouraging higher revs. According to Corporal Jones "it won't like it up em". If I am right I suggest before you start playing with the top end make...

Re: Alloy head push rod tube seals

I doesn't matter metric or imperial as long as they fit the alloy inserts that you make to suit them. It's been a few years so I don't have any sizes or drawings (or leaks).

Re: Interference fit for phosphor bronze bush in alloy con rod

I would have thought .0015" to .002" would have been enough to stop you broaching the little end out and holding the bush in place. Theres not going to be much expansion on such a small diameter. It depends also on the bush wall thickness, to thin and you will crush the bush with a big int...

Re: Alloy head push rod tube seals

Lee, check out the earlier post by shanehubbard. There are pictures etc. I made a similar set up for 59 VH a few years ago. "Simply Bearings" have inexpensive Viton O rings. Dont use ordinary ones as they turn to crisps.

Re: Alloy inserts VCH push rod seals

I have done the same on my VH. Make sure you use Viton or you will barb a std O ring. It works well

Re: Bronze valve guides

Make sure if the valves are open they get lubricated. I tried this once with bronze guides on my open valve T80 racer. I did two laps before the valve picked up and sized in the guide. I then went back to cast iron guides with no problem.

Re: Alloy Head & Alloy Cylinder

I have run my big VH road bike with Alloy head and alloy barrel with ceramic bore for years with just a spigot ground joint with no problems. No grease required.
