For Sale - SQ4 MK11 1958

Postby Keren Shelton » Sat Feb 20, 2021 1:34 pm

Reluctant sale of 1958 Ariel Square 4 MKII. This lovely bike was purchased by my dad in 1964; it was running, but rough. Dad stripped the engine and found it had a cracked crankcase. He stripped the bike completely to restore it but shortly after that he bought a business and had no spare time. The bike parts were greased and put into storage but the frame had to be stored separately and later lost/stolen, hence the frame being a later year. The bike was professionally restored in year 2000 by David Jones Motorcycles who I found through AOMCC and Draganfly. Now a little older and still too short to ride my lovely SQ4, I've finally decided to write the ad.

They right themselves if I click on them. May not do so for all of course.

Looks a lovely steed for somebody!

Very nice bike. It looks like the clutch cable is resting on the exhaust manifold.

Thank you for your helpful comments, the clutch cable will soon be sorted.
It does run as good as it looks and always been well maintained. I’ve been with my sq4 for all the mileage it has from restoration, either pillion or following (on a bike made for shorties). If I could ride it I wouldn’t be selling it. It sounds good too.

Take off the dualseat and fit a lower single seat - all the mountings are there (I think this has been raised before around here, probably some pics somewhere....)

Edit:
Here we go the this thread is on single saddles for late Squares and has links to examples of saddles on ebay; the link I've referenced there is to another thread with a pic of a single seat fitted - although that owner was 6' 2" so he wanted something high (and further back) - you can fit them much lower.

The height is not the only problem, it’s the weight, it’s too heavy for me.
Thank you though, I’ll take a look for the pics.

Or fit a sidecar, then you don't have to worry too much about the weight
and Squares make excellent sidecar tugs.
