Hello Dave, I’ve been looking at that bike but with it all being dismantled like that I wouldn’t really no if much of the bike was missing as I’m not familiar with Ariel motorcycles.

There is a lot of good stuff with that money. I think magneto, dynamo and carburetor are missing.
And wiring loom and cables etc. I think he was going to build cafe racer.

no petrol or oil tank either ? or exhaust pipe and undoubtedly the usual nuts, bolts, cables etc
BUT there are loads of bits you can sell to fund those .. lots of extra engine stuff there you don't need (inc a sidevalve one !)

Even the most "complete" of projects is rarely all there.
I bought a t140 nearly three years back ... rolling chassis with what I thought was everything in the boxes (and I looked quite hard). Another £600 later, and many hours figuring out that I did need this "special" bolt or what was missing or broken .... Who on earth dismantles carbs and switchgear to their every component part ???? Anyway it's running about now

Here's what I bought earlier this year (some of the rest of it is in boxes and alot isn't ..)

I guess what we're saying is that there will always be bits missing ...

Some bits are only useful as patterns or a paperweight as well. Nev

This is nice too. Seems complete and just has to drive. Everything can be preserved. Looks like a barn find.

Just saw this one for sale. https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1191686 Surely there not worth this in this condition? Can’t seem to find anything close to me, I’m going to Newark autojumble this weekend so maybe I might be lucky and find something.

No. that one is a little over-priced. The really late 350's are less desireable, plus it's condition BUT it looks complete.

Everyone always says to buy the most complete one you can afford, because it'll have those really rare (expensive) bits and you can dismantle it and see where everything goes.
Unfortunately, we all buy stuff in boxes :D

Do they still have this one for sale: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=10077
