Portland! We have an Ariel

Postby Akumar » Sun Mar 16, 2014 8:06 pm

Dear fellow enthusiasts,

I am not sure why so many VGs are popping up in Portland, Oregon? Check this 1948 VG:

I'd love to buy an Ariel and ride it across the states, maybe one day! We have a Portland here about 50 miles from me, so Portland to Portland?

Hey Steve, I never replied to your message about you being in Minneapolis. I wanted to tell you Betty's Bike and Buns closed shop in 2005. I heard they were not doing very well. It was imaginable as the place was becoming more of lawyers-turned-weekend BMW riders-joint. So not sure how loyal the clientele was. Incidentally, I live just a mile from that place. Other than that, we have a fairly decent Brit bike scene here. Our big vintage bike show is coming up in June. I will post some pics at that time.

I visited Betty's in September 2005, hope it wasn't my fault they closed :D

Its from small acorns that great oak trees grow.

You would have to detour up into BC as there are a few of us up here who treat you well with beds, meals and a glass or two. Excellent riding up here as well then you can drive back into the US for the rest of the trip.
