square four scam on ebay

Postby davi.haysom » Sun Jan 21, 2018 4:46 pm

Have you noticed there was 2 square fours for sale this week on ebay. I thought it was to good to be true so having read the info I would just test the advert. they were put on at 99p starters. So ,reading the write up, these were being sold on behalf of his uncle who wanted £3500. I then emailed him for a cash on collection deal. Guess what. Both bikes were removed from ebay. buyers beware.

I always report them when I come across them - there were a couple for Nortons this week, probably the same person.

They get round ebay's ban on putting email addresses / phone numbers in the listings by including them as an image. Tricky.....

There has been a load of these on eBay in the last year, all at "too good to be true" prices. The first give-away is that their location is only given as "UK", the second is that the description asks you to email them directly (which is against eBay rules), which is why they are removed so quickly. I also report them to eBay as soon as I see them, before someone less worldy gets drawn in by their con.

As the old saying goes, "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is".

Another give-away is if you look at "see other items"you will see a list of up to 100 other items motorcycles ,cars trucks , diggers etc.
