Ariel sign

Postby Dave.Thomas » Sun Jun 17, 2018 9:24 pm

Sorry not mine but was very tempted by this 4’ square metal sign at Banbury. I decided that the inevitable divorce proceedings would be remembered long after the £400 odd purchase price

A lovely sign, but I would have to mask off the "and cycles" bit as I find that most of the "militant" cyclists around these days to be a source of intense rectal discomfort in their disregard for other road users.

Ps, funnily enough I think I walked past you, but couldn’t be certain so didn’t speak . Red or brown top by any chance ?
Oops sorry Paul, nerve touched there ?!

£6500, the guy was trying to sell it as a 500cc but as we know it's a 350. I had on a brown wax jacket and grey news boy cap.

The same seller was selling a Sunbeam splined rear drum / sprocket (all teeth gone) for £200. Another photo of the bike:

Another bike he was selling was 18k! I think the guy lives in a dream world and needs to come back down to earth. He will have theses machines forever. And selling worn out parts at the same price as gold. I would like a black ariel and the sloper would of fitted the bill. But there is no way I would part with that kind of money for that! Nor would anyone else for that matter. I did hear he brought the sloper off another shall holder early in the morning for 4500, before wheeling it round to his shall and stuck an extra 2k on the price. Silly man .

I think this is the 18K bike he was selling...a Royal Enfield with a rather nice patina, and probably a much better buy for the money.

I'm sure I've seen this MF advertised recently although I can't remember where...and to be pedantic, these were described by Ariel as "Inclined" models rather than "Sloper" models.
