That's not a bad looking bike and they go OK too. Nev

I thought Mod E was a twin port?

It IS in the 30 models but not sure about twin port in the earlier ones . it's a styling and noise exercise. The engines run better with a single port, but when Rudge came out with the four valve in 1925? They all wanted to look 4 valve. 28 OHV AJS were both single port so it wasn't instant but went to the 50's . Adds cost to a restoration. Nev

So far as I know the model E was a twin port. It shows clearly in the sales brochure and here is a photo of one in the metal.

This is one of the ex Mike Taylour bikes and was sold at Stafford in April for £7000 plus commission. The current vendor looks as if he has a nice profit margin in mind.

I do find it strange that we're almost at the position where some models of SQ4s are selling at the same price as similar condition Black Ariels. Prices on the latter have risen over the last 24 months while prices for SQ4s have stagnated and, in some cases, fallen.

I've heard it said the one of them has 3 cylinders MORE than you need, but it wasn't ME. SQ 4's are SMOOOTHHH and ideal for those needing a challenging experience. Nev..
