Ariel colt parts

Hi all,

Just renewed my club membership as I have been away from anything bikes for a few years now due to work.

Anyway - I now have time to get on with my projects and the "incomplete" 1954/55 LH colt basket case is now being dug out.

Trying to remember what I do and don't need is a task and a half. Compiling bits as I find them.

And ... I know I still need lots.....

So, at the moment I am going to ask if anyone has any of the following going spare please:

- a cylinder head
- set of valves and springs (spotted a set on ebay)
- headlamp - as complete as possible - not that bothered if correct for year... (when I get this I can buy the matching switches and wiring loom)
- Oil tank
- contact breaker assembly bits...
- GB30 gearbox

Thanks in advance and I know its a big ask, but you never know.......

Hello Kevin, is this a Colt oil tank ?
Extra strap on the back does not look right but I am not into Colts.

Remember there are 2 types of colt headlamp and wiring harness. Yours would be the early type with a single large Wipac switch on the top of the headlamp, the later type has 2 separate switches.

Your original rectifier would be the large disc type which if you can find one you could fit just as a cosmetic extra.

If you can't find the gearbox then you could fit the C11 gearbox which many have done, it goes less trouble and should be easier to find.

Thanks Dave, that's good advice and I agree.. that's my other plan - a C11 gearbox. I see there are a few around for sale.
and as far as the headlamp goes, I am not going to be picky to be honest. As I don't have the loom yet either, I will get a colt headlamp then the loom and switches to suit.

I remember in the 1980s there was a barn in Amersham stocked full of new Ariel parts from the factory. I bought several colt parts including a new petrol tank, cotton sleeved wiring loom complete with chunky switch and other delights. Sadly those days have passed.
