With a NH marked cover it is possible to transfer a fifties one in to a earlier one by redressing the area around the left hand top screw.
For the RH one; I dont think there where postwar 'RH' marked covers , only 'VH' marked ones .

The very late 1938 350 Red Hunter I had back in the '70s had an RH marked timing cover. It was unrestored and was original in every detail, original wiring, control cables and no new paint etc. So it seems very unlikely that timing cover would have been added later.

I once bought a 38, 350, used as a stationary engine. It had the RH cover.
NH, RH, more fun than a plain Jane.

I need a HS timing cover but that one is in very poor condition. I can get one cast, polish it and have it engraved for a lot less than that one would cost post included.

David, I’ve often wondered which trade can copy the original engraving. What is your secret to inexpensive castings?

Wade
There is a small foundry near me that until recently was operating full time. He operated from his home on a small rural property but closed full time operations recently. He will however do some work still on weekends but has to have enough work to make operating the smelter viable, so it can now take a few months to get the work done. I have to make the pattern. The engraving is done locally with a CNC machine.
