NH/NG piston wanted

Postby T Barnes » Thu Nov 08, 2018 8:10 pm

Wish to get a .040 or .060 piston for an NH/NG 350, with either 7,5:1 or 8,0:1 CR. A used one is also of interest, as long as it's not damaged or totally worn out.

Hi, thank you for the tip, but I'm afraid it's a standard piston with 6,2:1 CR, beeing a Hepolite 11210.
What I need is either a Hepolite 4469 (7,5:1 with three compression rings, no oil ring),
10431 (7,5:1 with two compression rings and one oil ring)
or 11548 (8:1 with two compression rings and one oil ring).

I had +0.020, +0.040 and +0.060 4469 pistons brand new in their boxes for many years. When I converted the Red Hunter back to 500cc about 5 years ago I sold off all my 350 bits. I found it extraordinarily difficult to sell the pistons which eventually went for little more than a pittance on Ebay.

People "wanted " the more muscular") OHV's. As a callow (and poor ) youth I rode a 1936 Ariel RH 350 a 1947 ZA7 BSA 500 twin and then a 1948 Royal Enfield bullet with a swing arm frame. I only "pillioned" one bike, the Enfield and for a time it was my only transport to work, Uni at night ( the other side of Sydney and home (Newcastle) at the weekends.. The only mods to the Enfield was a roller big end conversion I fitted and some port reshaping.. I never felt the bike was inadequate with the power and the roller bearing lasted longer than the original floating whitemetal one fitted.. I did thrash it but liked it generally except the frame flexes and the gearbox was an Albion that stuck in two gears at once, once. Nev

Found it, Draganfly had a kit with a std 8,5:1 piston and a cylinder liner. So got another cylinder today, and will get it lined and fitted with the 8,5:1 piston. Maybe a tad high CR, so I should fit a shim under the cylinder, or mill the crown little bit...?
