- GIRDER FORK SUSPENSION -

Postby davidawgeorge » Sun Apr 07, 2019 9:13 pm

Hello,

I am currently trying to find an original Ariel manufactured girder fork suspension for a 1940 Red Hunter 500cc. Anybody have any ideas?

Thank you,

David

I think most 1940 Ariels had the long WNG type forks, my advise; buy a bad WNG, take the forks and sell the other parts on.

I thought it was only the 350CC WNG model that had the longer front fork? The forks needed to be longer as the frame had a higher than standard rear section so the forks and frame are matched.

So ....David it may help if you let us know the frame number so we can see exactly which frame you have.

There has been an original set of WNG forks on Ebay a couple of times from Greece. I don't think they sold (last sale ended yesterday) see the listing here:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ariel-350-NG ... 7675.l2557

And another sale in UK from last year that didn't sell so seller may still have them:

Jake Robbins in the UK is reputable girder fork repair specialist, it may be worth giving him a bell:

Check out stuart bray, he deals in military motorcycles and has a set of Wng girders complete for sale. But at a price I think of £1275.00

As well as being longer the W/NG forks are narrower where the wheel goes in and the axle is smaller diameter (Stepped nut smaller.) You can't readily swap front wheels. Nev

There where long forks with the big hub and axel, all 1939 squares 600s for starters.
