Frame paint

Postby TonyBaxter » Sat Apr 14, 2018 11:42 pm

Hi all, is there a standard colour available in powder coat for the white used on late Arrows/Leaders ?
Cheers, Tony.

Hi Tony,

I had my small frame parts done in standard white and then spray painted them in a colour nearer to the Ariel colour. I used Rover -- Tudor white, it was near to the colour on my bike when I bought it . Drags have a list of the colours used on their site.
There are some powder coaters who have a range of colours, some are quite near to the Ariel colours, one is south of Birmingham ----Redditch shot blasters ?
Roger will know who they are , he's used them a few times.

Brian H. PS I don't think Ariel were as exact on colours as bike manufactuers are now !

Hi Brian. Thanks, perhaps I shall take an original part along to a local company and see what they think, cheers.

I had the frame of my arrow sprayed Ford Diamond White, which was on the Draganfly web site. I have no problem with the colour but would probably if doing it again get the frame powder coated to get a harder finish. The paint job seems easily damaged. Just my experience. If doing that I think you need to mask off the ait box bit of the frame and the cups for the forks.

You do need to be careful not to let any blasting medium inside the air box.

I agree with Ian. There is one of our colleagues on the Yahoo forum who has now got a motor full of grit. It gets into the air intake cavity and won't (easily) come out. If you have to have the frame blasted use vapour or soda.

Hi Tony
V W alpine white is also a good match, if you can go for powder coating as its a much harder finish.
