Arrow Front Brake

Postby RodgerWelham » Sat May 11, 2019 5:32 pm

The front brake on my 200cc Arrow doesn't work - I can push the bike along with it held on. The linings are probably original as it hasn't been on the road since '81 and done only 22,000 miles. The linings are 4mm thick.

I have been on to Saftec about new linings but unsure what to go for. They do soft linings and extra thicknesses. It seems to me that have a thicker lining would make it more effective. Does anyone know the internal diameter of the standard front drum - I don't have anything that I could measure it accurately with. Has anyone used thicker linings or soft ones?

Cheers, Rodger

Hello Roger,

The brakes are nominally 6'' diameter and if they have not been skimmed will be within normal machining tolerances of that measurement.

I've have most of my brakes done/relined by Classic Brake
