any one know where i can get the tool for the oil seal in the outer primary drive case so it does not get damaged when fitting the case.

Ken I am new to this mechanic stuff but I used my fingers to get the seal in from the inside then pushed the rest of using a piece of metal to spread the pressure.

I wrap the shaft with plastic insulation tape, two or three turns and leave the end free and pull it out when the case is in place.

Same here Graham. Smear a bit of red rubber grease on the outside of the tape. Goes on a treat.

Guys I am keen to learn, I thought Ken was trying to fit the seal into the primary casing, are you meaning when the cover is fitted (Andy, Graham).
I have fitted the seal on my own primary cover but not fitted it yet as I am waiting on a Tab washer for the fly wheel. So I am interested in this thread you maybe saving me a lot of hassle. Thanks.

Yes it's a way to fit the cover and avoid damage to the inner edge of the seal, and use a bit of grease on the tape as Andy says, I forgot to say that.

Make sure you wrap the tape so that the seal rides easily over the edges (ie start the wrap from the inner end).

Re the oil seal fitting,

The extractors from Drags , as far as I can remember contain an oil seal assembly bush. I've seen various ways fo protecting the oil seal including the one mentioned and even making a bush from wood.
