The backing plate in the photo looks just mine when I brought my VHA home in 77. A few years later a friend gave me some Ariel parts included was another backing plate with that dull/flat look(Not chrome).
Maybe Ariel supplied both at the time???

Alex Little had a Huntmaster that was a show bike. It had a cast aluminium steering damper knob.

y
Leejm, i think ur on the money there about the blue seat... seen that in at least 2 drawings from
1953-4 ( advertisements)
kha going a bit slowly, hit another sidetrack (400ci chev motor to rebuild!) Have stripped the front forks down tho, ordered new everythings for that bit... hope those tapered roller headstem bearings fit correctly!
this old mag advert is interesting for 2 reasons1- its the december 1952 issue and 2... its only an advert... theres nothing inside about these bikes! ( this happened a lot back then!!)
theres adds inside for a used 1951 vincent rapide £219 and 1951 square 4 £195

Hi Lee,
I think your VHA looks beautiful.

I don't think it is healthy to get too immersed in this 100% originality thing; it can get beyond reason and detract from the sheer joy of owning and riding a machine.

Thank you Keith and yes your right the joy should come first. But it's all so nice to share any information people have on the bikes. We all like to learn new things at the same time.
