A previous owner, but I don’t know who that was.
I was looking for a swinging arm square four, and this came up as a basket case. The frame is (in my opinion) a good conversion, as it doesn’t have a kink in the rail below the tank where it’s been extended, and the down tube in front of the engine is a single tube allowing the standard square four engine plates to be used at the front.
Before starting the rebuild I spent a lot of time checking the frame to make sure it was straight, that the engine mountings were in the right place and aligned, and that it all measured up to to take the engine and gearbox. Then I had to check the primary drive / gearbox / rear sprocket alignment.
I’m pleased to say all was OK.
