Ariel - Manufacturing during WW2

Postby simon.holyfield » Sat May 16, 2020 7:20 pm

Folks,

I read in Peter Hartley's book that Ariel were involved in various non-motorcycle activity during WW2, including 'hydraulic equipment for aircraft'

Do we know of any connection between this work and the post-war appearance of the telescopic fork?
cheers

Could it be that they were doing subcontract work for Dowty who were I believe a main supplier of aircraft hydraulic undercarriages. Dowty were located not too far away from Ariel.
