RAL COLOUR.

Postby d.mulcahy » Fri Sep 11, 2020 12:48 pm

Hi again, I am about to restore a 1957 kh 500 and believe the frame was originally maroon does anyone know the nearest Ral colour as this is the colour system powdercoater use. Also any idea of cost of a pair of wheels rebuilt with chrome rims and stainless spokes . TIA. Dave.

I don't know whereabouts you are based but Redditch Shotblasters and Powdercoaters have absolutely correct Ariel Maroon as one of their standard colours.

Thanks Paul in stockport, so Redditch a bit of a jaunt. Buxton powder coating seem to have a good reputation. Also can get ral colours mixed in celly or 2 pack for when I paint tinware & tank.

Thanks Bob that's a very good price most company's are charging more than that for just new rims.

Hi

I build my own wheels, it's not difficult if you take your time and work methodically - plenty of advice on the web. So far I've re-built eight wheels for about £8.00, (the price of a good spoke spanner).

This is a colour that I reckon gets mucked up frequently although restorers say they have had it matched accurately. It sometimes loses its Intensity and depth of colour. I reckon it's due to the tinters having traces of white or black in them and the result is a dulling of the colour (grey added). When it's done right it's a good look as are most Ariel colours. Nev
