Thanks Steve. I found something called Seal-All, which appears to be made for the job. It's currently in the post. Also my local tank repair guy is on hols at the minute, so I can't do too much.

I'm playing with electrics while I wait!
cheers

More than a month in, my 'Seal-All' bench test seems to be holding. Details in the blog post:

Next step is to have a look inside the tank with my 'camera on a wire', clean up the hole from the outside, and seal the tank.
cheers

Simon,
A caveat re cleaning up the outside of a tank hole... I used a highly touted prep from POR-15 specifically made for gas tanks. When it dried inside, it looked very durable and, yes, did stop all 4 leaks. However, then I went to polish the outside of the tank, and when I re-installed it and filled with petrol, it came squirting out one of the holes. My guess is that there was a little "zit" protruding through to the outside, and when I ran the polisher over, it must have pushed it inside and broken off the sealant, leaving the hole.

Proceed carefully with anything dribbling from the inside out!

The tank sealer test seems to be holding up, six weeks in. I have now sealed the holes in the tank itself - we will start testing it on the bike in a day or two.

Details here:

I've also had a look inside the tank:
