New member - 350 NH

Postby jackcuddeford » Thu Feb 22, 2018 10:25 pm

Hi guys.

Thought id do a quick write up about me/my bike.

From london, Help out in my dads workshop doing mainly 'cafe racer' style bikes but everything from harleys to race bikes.

There was a guy working in the arch next door a few years ago and he was forced to shut up his business (london rent cost...)
Anyway he had this bike and wanted rid so i got it for a great price. run an rode but needed a few parts.
He wasn't 'mechanically minded' shall we say and the bike didn't run great after sitting for a few years. we decided to check timing and turns out he fitted electronic ignition which isnt working correctly an i want to replace... ive wrote a separate post in the help section.

Anyway so this is the bike! MGF595
wondered if anyone knew of this bike or could tell me anything about it? like all the little facts...
John budgen told me is a 51 engine and 51 frame but the bikes registered as a 56?
the first thing everyone says is "is that a old army bike" , i dont know so has someone just painted it that color or is there reasoning behind it?

sure ill learn a lot off here so thanks in advance :)

What i can see from this side; a 1951? NH with a 1946 frontforks, 1951? fronthub, 1951? tank.
So it could be good in 1951, also the numbers, altered to look like a WNG.

This frontforks has the value of 4 telescopic 1951 forks.

The XG number is in the right place and would make it 1938 but the G is to big so i don't know about that number.

I was riding it for a while. I’m right by Westminster and it cut out once... had the police round bigben having a go at kicking it over haha
It was running fine, used to fly down the embankment on a early morning when nobody’s about...
Oh yea
Also printed just above the red Ariel lettering is ‘RA1750’ and above that on the barrel is ‘A8/circle 5’ not sure what that means either haha

RA1750 is NH 1951, the gearbox is also 1951.
If you take the paint away at the XG number you could find a 1951 number WAxxxx under there.
