Roadrider tyre pressures.

Postby MBolton » Sat Sep 15, 2018 3:13 pm

Can anybody advise about the best pressures to run in Avon AM26 Roadrider tyres on my 1957 500 VH please. It's for solo use, no pillion or luggage but the rider is 17 stones.

I've used around 30lb back and front. I'm nearer 13 stone but my bike has to carry the extra weight of a fairing and luggage
.

Thanks Steve. I'm taking the VH to the Colombres rally next month and the tyres that Alan had on it were very square in profile. I felt I needed a rounder profile and as much grip as I can get. Love the bike, it's become my favourite.

I run 26psi in the front and 28psi in the rear, on a swinging arm VH. I weigh 13 and a half stone

I asked the question at Wheel House Tyres and they suggested 30psi solo or 32 psi 2 up. Personally, I use similar figures to son Rob, despite being 15.75 stone in weight. I find the higher pressures make the bike hop about a bit, particularly the rigid framed ones.

Hi,
I run 28 rear and 26 front on my 1950 rigid VH.

I weigh in at about 13 stone.
