Re Vincent's post. Lovely original condition VG.... However, not being picky as I think it is a great bike but... as the subject of top girder links has been an ongoing theme on the forum for many years (and is usually picked up as being wrong) .... this bike appears to have the Chamfers at the top. So should they be at the top ?

Cheers

No. Chamfers inside bottom to prevent the links hitting the top fork casting when bottoming.

Interesting !
And a bit illogical to chamfer the whole lenght for just one spot where the fork -might- hit.
Hmmm, I am not convinced.
For now I stick to the chafing scenario, but I am gonna test that this weekend on the cobbles of Belgium.

They do hit and leave a mark at full UP when installed chamfers to the top inner. Nev

Still thinking about this…
Ariel factory PR wise I would choose the chamfer on top inside.
Just a idea;
Ariel gets more customer brownie points when they show that the factory has thought about the 'well being' of the cables, then to 'admit' your forks can bottom out. :ugeek: ?
