A bit warm today-good for gearbox filling

Postby alan.moore » Tue Jul 23, 2019 4:55 pm

Well it got up to 40 degrees C in the 'shed' today :o ...ideal I thought for mixing up some semi fluid grease and filling the CP gearbox. Certainly goes in a lot easier when it is hot (well 40 degrees is hot for us Brits :D ). Job done and now time for a couple of cold beers in the shade.

Looks like an icing syringe. Bet the christmas cake is going to taste a bit odd.

I've been moving that icing syringe around the cupboard for the last 10 years. Never been used for its intended purpose but I just knew it would come in handy one day :)

Alan
While in the kitchen did you also realize that the dishwasher is also a good parts washer, and the stove is great for setting paint and heating crankcases or an alloy cylinder, and those small measuring jugs also measure oil, numerous uses for kitchen scales, the microwave is great for seasoning wood for woodturning. the list just goes on.

Best done after your wife has left you, as she probably will after you do it ,if she hasn't already. Funny how their sense of humour has it's limits . The kitchen is their "women's shed" equivalent. Nev

Well Nev, you must be psychic.....wife left a good few years now and my kitchen is now fully 'dual purpose'. Worktops are just the right height for assembling engines and gearboxes in a nice clean environment...close to the oven so the cases don't cool down when fitting bearings. And as David says that dishwasher can be put to good use.

One of the first things I did when my first wife left was park my BSA in front of the French windows. Perfect for tinkering, polishing and generally gazing at.
Happily the current Mrs W doesn't have to put up with such things. She does occasionally accuse me of marrying her for her double carriage but there is no truth in that at all.
Honest.
