Hi Forum

Does anyone know why there are to Ariels with the same frameno: y6444

They are dated as H&H is dated 1934 and Bonhams is dated 1938 - what is the correct year for y6444?

Bonhams

Y6444 is a 1933 to 1935 frame. If you read the blurb on the Bonhams site you will see that they were advised that the frame on that bike is a later type. So the sprint special probably has the correct frame with the number transferred to the other bike.

I have seen this bike at Stafford spring sale in 2017, it was a mess with a clearly fabricated framenumber.
I think it went to a dealer in the Netherlands….

sorry, first pic is usd.
pic with underside tank; very faintly is the postwar chrono hole visible.
