Huntmaster crankshaft oil pipe disaster! HELP!

Postby dave.pitt » Sun Nov 19, 2017 9:25 pm

Does anyone know the real reason why BSA and thereby Ariel fitted an oil delivery pipe up the centre of the big end journal axis on Huntmasters?
I have my own theory, which I won't bore you with, and I have heard another theory, but if anyone actually knows please enlighten me.
I did not know it existed. It is not in the engine exploded diagrams, not given a part number. Therefore I killed it when cleaning the sludge traps out! NOW I NEED A NEW ONE so if you have an unusable FH crankshaft please can I have the pipe from within!
See my 4 stroke Wanted ad.
Your very own idiot...

There's a lot of centrifugal force acting on the oil in the crank especially at revs, tending to over feed the first (drive side) big end bearing so many engines have tried to even the flow by getting the oil to the centre first to distribute it more evenly. Nev
