High level pipes on VH oil tank clearance

Postby alan.moore » Sat Nov 10, 2018 5:15 pm

Gents,
Just a quick question. Those of you who have high level pipes on a VH, what is your gap between the pipe and the oil tank?

Cheers
Alan

None on my Armours high pipe, I had to tweak it a bit to actualy fit.
On the original pipe there is an extra slight bend just before the oil tank.

Hi Ian,
I had to modify mine also. Sand pack, heat and bend.

Thanks chaps, Mine are Armours pipes as well. I have about 1/8" so looks like that is pretty normal

Cheers

Despite having read the warnings on this forum about the trials involved fitting high level pipes I have taken the idiotic plunge.

If it all goes horribly wrong I still have the old system to keep me running.

These are from Armours and they also supplied the un-drilled P bracket. I think I'll need some sort of 'L' bracket to mount to the mudguard stay.

Just read the earlier post in the link.
Interesting note : "Loads of stickers on the parts saying that if you mark them Armours will not take them back!!"
Ah! now I understand the true meaning of 'Export Quality' as thats where those non fitting -but not scratched- pipes end up !

and yes, I have a axe to grind with Armours, oh and bytheway also with Unity and a few more companies selling those Export Quality stuff abroad

I'm doomed!

Actually, I don't really care too much about a scratch here or there, the bike is rusty and oily and a gleaming pipe will look a bit out of place until it dulls down.
