Hawker taper-roller bearings

Postby daveleek » Tue Jan 07, 2020 8:09 pm

I have just fitted Hawker steering head bearings and very nice they are to ,I suddenly realised there isnt a bottom dust seal , the rollers are exposed to the elements , should there have been a dust seal in the kit ?

I doubt a bottom dust seal is necessary. There isn't one on the taper rollers used for Healey steering head bearings and I did nearly 40,000 miles on my previous Healey without even greasing the steering head bearings. Handling was always excellent.
