single timing cover - engrave model letters

Postby klaus gerhard » Mon May 18, 2020 8:30 am

Having almost finished my VHA I realized that the Timing cover lacks the ususal letters e.g. VHA etc. Instead finding the right type somewhere I was wondering if there is a proven method of engraving the letters into the blanc cover?
Any ideas how this can be done or has been done before?

Thanks for your suggestions

Kind regards Klaus

Ask at a trophy maker or jeweller shop, they have engraving machines.
Make sure that they have the cover the right way up, one of our Dutch members had the 'VH' engraved upside down :)

It has been done before. But I have seen examples where one could tell from far away that the cover wasn't original, because the letters didn't have the right shape or the edges of the engravings were not as smooth as the originals. But VHA covers don't come up that often.

Thanks Dave,
I do have a reference from the spare engine myself. I was curious how a replica could be made the easiest way! I will see the local trophy maker and see what he can do!
Thanks
Regards Klaus
