Correct number plate for 1949

Postby Pete.Silson » Sun May 24, 2020 12:13 pm

I have a '49 rigid single which has, what I am told is, a later BSA rear number plate and I would like to fit something more in keeping with the Ariel. I've got three possible replacement candidiates for the numberplate and would appreciate some expert opinion as to the best fit for a '49 single.

Also what tail light should I be fitting?

I think the tail light should be an MT110.

Only got the sq4 parts list for 1949.

Rear light is MT110

Probably common to whole range in 49

The centre number plate looks correct to me. An MT 110 lamp should fit it perfectly. PM me if you need the info to use a single filament bulb in the MT110 as both Stop and Tail light - both the Red Hunter and 4G use a well tried system for this.

All I did was change out the bulb holder and supply an electric feed through a brake light switch . Wasnt a difficult upgrade .
