KH 500 stanchions

Having a bad time with my 1951 KH (cast iron head),I am trying to get the rocker oil feed banjos oil tight I have tried fibre washers ,copper washers then doughty washers all without any success. The next step was to remove the feed complete and make sure that the banjos were flat on the faces which I did on a piece of glass with very fine wet and dry next was new copper washers and new nuts from Dragonfly. The bike was the run with the tank removed so I could observe and yes its still leaking, I am now looking for any advice as to what action to try next surely somebody in the club has had this problem. Also another question are the composite head gaskets reusable I know the head and barrel are perfectly flat as they have been surface ground the gasket in question is a Payen from club spares and only been on for about 150 miles. HI IS the rockerbox faces flat or have they got a crack in the banjos or the rockerbox

These are not easy to seal. Mine leak on the KH(A) and that has the rockers fed from the return rather than the pressure side.

You have followed the correct sequence for assembly though, haven't you? This is to slacken off (or even remove) the large head screws on the outer end of the rockers. Then you tighten up the nuts on the inner ends against the banjo with new copper washers. You can make up a tool to hold the rocker spindle from turning to make this easier. Let me know if you need the details and I will look it out. It is an invention of the late Ralph Hawkins. Finally, you tighten up the large head screws.

Thanks for the reply Paul I have been tightening in the correct order but would like to see the details of the spindle holding tool anything to make life easier.
