Brake shoe Spring - 4110-30

Postby john.nash » Thu Nov 01, 2012 4:06 pm

Having solved the WNG brake-shoe issue:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1432

I now find they have a unique 4110-30 brake shoe spring (everything else uses 4110-26) .... spring is unobtainium at the usual places.
Is there a simple replacement spring ?
What makes it so unique that it fits a few 1930 models and my WNG ...

Seems like the spring belongs to the smaller engined bikes at the turn of the 30's

I did some measuring and extrapolation from the 4110-26 springs and their shoes and obviously knew what the distances where on the shoes with the missing springs.

Ashfield Springs
Part SO48

A bit thicker than the 4110-26 springs but do the job.
84p each but min order is a tenner. Not cheap to ship either.

Good work John! - I was going to suggest a spring maker. Now you have some spares?

I cannot find the knowledgebase login .... could you either remind me or add it there.
It appears that the spring is unobtainium and no club spares schemes have them - so this info may prove useful.

I have a selection of spring-age now. I am sure they will either come in useful or go into the bin, when I die

You are clearly not dead yet  so do you still have some of these WNG front springs...I could do with a couple
