Butchering?

Postby Vincent.vanGinneke » Mon Jul 11, 2011 10:39 am

I have a WNG frame with this side stand point near the left hand saddle spring.
As I dont want this thing sticking out (and dont need this large side stand at all) I plan to take it off.
Probaly brazed on? with a few pins? would drilling out these pins and heating it up do the trick?

Yes it would, don't drill them all the way, stop at the tube.

Sometimes you end up overheating the parts trying to unsweat them. If you don't need the fitting, it's safer to cut and file/grind the piece off. If you burn the bronze into the steel it becomes brittle and there is also a greater possibility of distortion of the tube. I'm short of a sidestand ( Fieldstand) for one of my WN/G's Is yours available? Nev

Hi Nev, You mean the stand itself? I only have the frame.
I would guess these stands are being reproduced by someone?
